Ramble Of The Day

So of course I'm sitting at my boyfriends watching Pit Bulls & Parolees marathon, big shock! I'm so excited that its on, yet sad because today is the season finale (Insert sad face). This show truly helped me figure out who I want to be and what I want to do with my life. Tia has also really showed me that everyone and everything needs a second chance and that we truly never should judge a book by a cover.

My dream would be to go and volunteer at Villalobos after I finish Vet Tech school. To learn from Tia, to see how she does it all, would be amazing.

I find it funny and people look at me weird because so many people dream of being a movie star or being rich and famous, but not me. What I dream about is opening up a rescue for forgotten animals. To rehabilitae them and find then new loving homes. My dream is to do what I love, to help animals and people of all kind.

FOSTER FRIDAY!

Every Friday I will be posting about a few dogs in Ohio that need to be adopted or fostered.

This Friday I want to share Prada! She is on the urgent list at the Cleveland Animal Control. Prada is a 2 year old female that looks to be an American Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is heartworm negative. Prada is a very play full, cuddly, dog. She needs someone that will love her and work with her on training.

The second dog I want to share is Katlyn. She was a stray when the Cleveland Animal Control found her. Katlyn is about 1 year old and 44 pounds. She is slightly cautios with sudden movemnts and a but unsure with things. Once she gets to know someone she loves attention and will snuggle right up with you. She loves to play and tug of war seems to be her favorite.

Common Foods Dogs Can Not Eat.

So do you ever stop and wonder, "Wow there are a lot of foods us humans eat that are beloved animals can't." Well if you don't, maybe you should, because there is a lot of them! Here are just a few that many people don't know about.

Avocados!
Avocados contain Persin, it is an oil-soluble compound structurally similar to a fatty acid, and it leaches into the body of the fruit from the pits. It is harmless to us but in large amounts can be toxic to our pups.

Alcohol!
The effect that alcohol has on us has the safe effect but worse for dogs. Just a sip of it can cause vomiting, diarrhea, problems with coordination, difficulty breathing, coma and even death. Just like with humans, the smaller the animal the worse the effects. You may think its funny to get your dog drunk and watch them stumble around, but remember your causing them more pain then you can imagine!

Caffeine!
Found in coffee, tea, pop, weight loss pills and many more things, Caffeine can be lethal in large amounts. In small amounts it can cause rapid breathing, heart palpitations, restlessness, muscle tremors, bleeding, diarrhea and vomiting. Like with alcohol, the smaller the dog the worse the effects can be.

Grapes and Raisins!
Its unclear why, but grapes and raisins have shown to cause kidney failure. Repeated vomiting is an early sign and within a day a dog can become very depressed and lethargic.

Onions and Garlic!
In any form, garlic and onions can destroy a dog's red blood cells and make them anemia. Now small doses of garlic actually helps strengthen a dogs immune system, but you have to be very careful as to how much you give to your pet. On the other hand onions are very toxic even in small doses. Some systems of garlic and onion poisoning are little interest of food, dullness, weakness, and vomiting.

Chocolate!
Now many people think chocolate is bad for dogs, and yes it is not the best of them but it is also not going to kill them. Milk chocolate and white chocolate is okay for dogs to eat. But I am not recommending that you feed it to your beloved furry friend. Dark chocolate, unsweetened baking chocolate, and chocolate mulch on the had can be fatal to dogs, even in very small amounts.

Villalobos

As I sat on my couch with pop corn all ready to watch my favorite show! Wanna guess what the show is??.... Pit Bulls & Paroles! I love this show for so many reason, the fact that they have paroles working with the pit bulls and have them help retrain the dogs is probably the best idea ever. Like Tia says, everyone needs a second chance both the pit bulls and the paroles.

Do you love your dog? Are you feeding him/her a good food? Well I bet your not!

So I haven't put up a post in awhile and I truly missed sitting down and just typing.

I will say I am not an expert by any means and most of the stuff I know is from Google. I'm not sitting here trying to tell you what to feed your dog. I'm just simply letting you know what I know about dog food and that if you love your dog or any animal enough, you should do some research too.

Dogs are opportunistic carnivores, opportunistic meaning taking advantage of an opportunity, and carnivore meaning an animal that eats meat. When you think about wolves and coyotes you don't normally see them running around in a hay field, unless they are chasing a rabbit. Am I correct? DOGS ARE NOT MEANT TO LIVE ON A HIGH GRAIN DIET! They need protein in their diet, but not just any protein, meat based protein.

When you look at a dog food bag the first five or so ingredients are the most important. Chicken is one of the most used meat in dog food, it should be the first ingredient on the list. It then should be followed by chicken meal. Most dog foods don't have the second ingredient as chicken meal, instead it is a grain then another type of grain and so on. Dog food that has an ingredients list like this is not giving your dog the amount of meat protein that it needs.

You never want to just see the word MEAT on your dog food, because it could be any kind of meat. most of the time it is a type of meat that has been rejected for human consumption. If it is a good dog food then it will be specific.

This is just a little glimpse of all the information you should know about your dog food. The benefits that a good dog food can give your furry friend are truly worth the money you will spend. So make a cup of coffee and get on Google or go to your nearest HEALTHY pet store. Places like Petsmart and Petco don't always know the information you need. So finding a place like Petpeople will truly be the best way to go.

I know you want to have your dog for a long time and feeding them right will help you have them for many years.
Bella, my healthy happy doggy wanted to say HI!

So this isn't going to be a post about animals. This post is going to be about being happy.

People say you need to make money, you need a good job, it doesn't matter if your happy. Well this is false! if you're not happy then whats the point of living? Whats the point of waking up everyday and dragging you tired, sorry, unhappy ass out of bed? There is no point!

You need to take a stand and change your life! I'm not saying go quit your job tomorrow. Take small steps first, and then gradually you will find yourself happier. When you start to seeing yourself smiling randomly throughout the day, that's when you know you're happy.

Animal Rescue

So I woke up this morning and of course I went right to my computer to look at dog rescue blogs. I came across the a blog, http://www.thelazypitbull.com, that had written about puppy mills. I couldn't even make it through the first paragraph without crying. The way people treat animals is so sad and sickening. I just want to know what goes on in people's minds. How could they treat these helpless animals so poorly! We need to stand up and fight for these animals, we need to protect them from these horrible people!
"This is Claire. Claire had a extremely difficult time getting around so we had our vet follow up. After sedation and xrays it was determined that sweet Claire has a shattered pelvis. This can only be corrected by the amazing surgeons at Metropolitan Animal Hospital. She will need extensive surgery, a titanium plate, screws and will have a very long road to recovery. Not only was she freezing and scared in a bad neighborhood but she has been hit by a car and left alone. She is a sweet girl who deserves a chance to see how a dog should live. We are arranging for her consult and surgery to happen this week. She is in immense pain which we are managing with multiple pain medications. Her surgery is estimated to be close to $4000.00. While we know this money would save a lot of dogs we also recognize that it wasn't chance that she was found and we commited to helping her, no matter what that meant. So often people say you can't save them all and while this may be true..... we can save her, but we need your help!We are in GREAT and Desperate need of donations."

You can read more about this girl on Muttley Crue's facebook page.
If you could please donate even just 5 dollars will help!
